One day, back in 2003, a close friend and his family came for a visit. Upon seeing my collection displayed throughout my home, he exclaimed, “My goodness you have so many knickknacks!” I shared my plan to open a shop when I retire and sell the collection of treasures I have accrued throughout my lifetime. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to travel and during those travels, a knickknack or two would catch my eye. With every find my heart would sing, and I would be inspired to write a poem which I often attached to my finds.
That afternoon, I took my friend and his family to the park. It was a beautiful, sunny day and shortly after arriving, my friend found purple fabric cut into the shape of a flower. He attached it to a thin branch and said, “Here Nidia, more knickknacks for your business.” He laughed, but little did he know, the name of my business was born. I went home and framed the flower on the branch, and it became a symbol for the business I would someday open. In time retirement came, and so did More Knickknacks!
